WHAT IS SPRAY POLYURETHANE FOAM?

Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) is a thermoset cellular plastic. The thermoset resins used in the production of SPF start in a liquid form. Once hardened thermoset resins form a plastic material that cannot be reheated and melted to be shaped differently. Thermoset plastics produce a strong and durable insulation product because the plastic matrix is ‘cross-linked’. Because the shape of a thermoset plastic is permanent, the product is not recyclable.

Closed cell spray foam is comprised of millions of small cells. The product encapsulate gas within the cells. The total encapsulation of an inert gas (the blowing agent), is what provides the MDSPF product with superior insulation value, good moisture resistance and excellent durability.

Blown-in attic insulation

=

Provides Optimum coverage, depth and density as the insulation will fill any gaps and spaces on the unfinished attic floor

R-Value. What is it and

why is it important?

The industry measures insulation resistances to conductive heat flow by rating it according to its thermal resistance, or otherwise referred to as its R-value. The higher the R-value is, the better the material insulates. A high R-value results in a higher effectiveness product.

The stated R-value also depends on the type of insulation, density and thickness. For some types of insulation, the R-value also depends on aging, temperature, and moisture.

Spray foam insulation the highest R-Value per inch compared to any other type of insulation, making it the most popular choice when it comes to energy efficiency.
